Intentional Camera Movement

For years, photographers have been moving the camera during an exposure to create interesting photos. Motion Blurs or Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) are a skill that should be added to your tool chest. This class also shows you have to blend a blurred image with a still image in Photoshop Layers

Hummingbird Photography: In-Person

Ruby-throated hummingbirds are on the move from their breeding grounds in the eastern US. Other species are doing the same in the western US. Now is the time learn all the trick of photographing these amazing creatures. In this outdoor class you’ll learn camera settings, hummingbird biology, and flash settings.

Prairie Photography

In person, outdoor event where we explore the Katy Prairie with our cameras. Walk about a mile looking for birds, butterlies, dragonflies, wildflowers, and critters on the prairie.

Camera with a lens in the 100-400mm range. Maybe a wide angle lens. Tripod not needed.

No unaccompanied minors, please.

The choice between a 10mm lens and 300mm lens is no different than a carpenter using a hammer or a rubber mallet. Each is a tool. Learn about lenses, lens construction, bokeh, and more. Plus see examples. Also, when you should rent a lens and when you should buy a lens.

Cataloguing and Organizing Your Photos

Join Kathy Adams Clark for this basic class on cataloguing and organizing photos. Family photos, travel photos, or nature photos, they all need to be organized in some way. Kathy will explain basic organization such as renaming, developing a folder structure, copyright, editing, and keywording.

She’ll explain the products available from basic to advanced. Watch Kathy work and then develop a system that works for you. Recording of class and extensive handout is part of the class.

Workflow for Wildlife Photographers

Let’s explore the concepts that go into developing a workflow for your wildlife images. We’ll discuss downloading, renaming, rating, deleting, keywording, and editing. Long term storage will also be discussed.

This class will use the Adobe products. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Camera Raw, or Lightroom is helpful but not mandatory. See my Introduction to Adobe Products class above.

Using Your Flash — The Basics

Learn how to use your flash on your camera in a fun class that will use subject in low light. Discover why your photos taken with flash are washed-out or under-exposed. Bring digital camera and flash to class plus your flash manual. Class is designed for cameras that have hot shoes for mounting auxillary flashes. Full Moon Over the Prairie

In the field on the Katy Prairie west of Houston. We’ll photograph the sunset, moon rise, and then the stars. learn how to get a proper exposure at night. Tripod and wide-angle lens are a must. Minimal walking and some stairs. Non-photographer traveling companions welcome.

Please have a basic understanding of your camera to get the maximum benefits from this class. Consider taking my Basic Photography class before this class.
